You can watch the video for 1-10 here. But it’s recommended reading the commentary below first.
#10 The killing of a Tanzanian High school refugee
During the vigil, while those who loveD the victim pour out their love and proclaim him as a good kid. Other children all under teen-age are playing with cap guns unaware of the reality of what has just taken place.
A lot of vigils we attend are held in the inner city where the victims are usually locals. This story was just a mile away from Lakewood, the suburban city next to Cleveland and the victim was Tanzanian. The murder scene was an unusual setting as the main street features barbershops, bars, and corner stores. The area gives you a taste of an authentic ungentrified local Cleveland mixed community. A perfect setting to come to after a hard day at work.
But almost involuntary hidden is an entire apartment complex of foreigners from Asia and Africa. Foreigners escaping the harsh conditions of their native land to deal with gun violence in America. Eye Witness reenact the victim’s plea for help after he was shot running into A lobby filled with several bullet holes in our footage.
The victims older brother expresses his disappointment in not being able to protect his sibling in our interview. The vigil attended by various community activist groups in the parking lot of the complex. Encircled by candles on the victim’s favorite basketball court.
#9 NFL Vegan lecture on Oppression in the food system
The black community has a dark closet full of skeletons we don’t want to address. Only, in this case, the closet is the bones of animals, not humans.
Former NFL Lineman turned vegan activist David Carter mission is to expose our unhealthy eating habits. There are loads of health documentaries out there but none really cater to the special needs of the black community. For instance, Our culture embraces slave food otherwise known as soul food. Which is passed down as a means of survival rather than health. Carter also details how the zoning laws dating back to the 1940s affect black inner city communities today. Furthermore, Carters’s expose of the marketing manipulation of Pepsi, KFC, and McDonald’s toward’s the black demographic should raise a red flag for us all. Do yourself a favor, immediately after
#8 Sports fanatics are the same as religious fanatics
The only thing more American than
racism, is sports…
It’s extremely difficult for some racist to identify themselves as racist. The same difficulty can be said for the average sports fanatic to be objective about their fanaticism. 2018 was our 3rd year covering the Cleveland Indians home opener in which activist protest the chief Wahoo logo. Sports fanatics defend chief wahoo during these protest as if their life depended on it. If it weren’t a sports team you would swear you’re going to a mass cult ceremony.
The massive 60 plus thousands stadium gives the impression your somewhere important. Especially if there’s a statue because statues are mainly for religious purposes right? The proper attire? Anything with a chief wahoo logo, even better if you can look like a “real Indian”. Next, You must stand during the national anthem which sets the mood and tone for this ritualistic event.
Also, similar to religious fanatics there’s no logic in your reasoning as to why we should keep the logo. ” it’s not offensive” and “it’s not hurting anybody”. Yet at the same time a fan will go “yeyeyeyeyeyeyeye ” mocking Native American culture.
Sports fanatics inability to be objective and empathic is bad enough. Even worse its contrasted with a blind passion for sports. Which has little impact on everyday life, we should begin to question the mental health of such sports fanatics.
#7 2 days after graduating high school his dad was detained by ice–
Despite I.C.E being an acronym for Immigration and customs enforcement its also a metaphor, for being cold-hearted, and uncompassionate.
Just 90 minutes away from Cleveland was a sweep of more than 100 immigrants at a food market. Families were split apart never to be seen again, or heard from.
Never mind the fact that Obama deported more “illegals” than Trump. The media used these types of stories to throw Trump under the bus for obvious views. These are real stories. Holding back tears and fighting emotions the children telling their stories is bigger than a media agenda
.Just like our interviews with Daca’s and Dreamers last year. Those who experience these tragedies are honest hard working people who lace themselves up by the bootstraps. Oddly enough a large number of black people feel these stories don’t concern them. Yet we covered a Haitian immigrant who was granted asylum but is still detained The sooner were aware of our own media bias the sooner we see the connection.
#6 Eye witness’s speak on the 50 year anniversary of the Glenville riots
What does a successful riot look like?
Being a prisoner of the moment can lead to a riot and land you in prison. But is it an impulsive reaction, or years of held in frustration?. Is it a moment or decades in a system that oppression anyone that resembles you? Is a successful riot one that destroys our own communities to the point that businesses want to leave? And Once these businesses leave drug dealing becomes the #1 employer which is a riot in and of itself.
#5 Today I went to the most dangerous place in the world
The ballot or the bullet
Maybe the greatest trick the devil played on us is making us think our votes don’t count. Especially locally. Even deeper maybe
#4 Benjamin Crump speaks on Nakia Jones case
Black officers lives matter
Officer Nakia Jones went viral for her video commenting on the murder of Alton Sterling. But even better she has an amazing book that you can purchase online here. The life of Nakia jones would make an excellent transition to the big screen as black female officers as definitely underrepresented in the media and face different struggles than their black male partners in blue. Jones is a breath of fresh air for the police and black
#3 House explosion victims speak against red cross treatment
Whenever a crisis occurs funding should be available to help families in need. But what if the city is recovering from bankruptcy? What if the story doesn’t get enough media attention to warrant the federal government’s intervention? The blast affected up to 100 houses nearby, shattering windows and roofing. Yet all the victims were given is a cot that broke in the middle of the night and a hot plate. Be sure to watch the video as one of the victims gives exclusive cell phone footage of the aftermath of the explosion.
#2 9 year old girl shot and killed, mother revisits crime scene.
Children killing children
To be honest, this video wasn’t planned and was probably the hardest video to capture. I’d originally was going to speak with several of the businesses at the murder scene. No more than 10 minutes after my arrival I see the grieving mother hugging a teddy bear. Sitting where just less than 24 hours ago her child was killed by a stray bullet. This is a raw as a video you will see of someone grieving for the loss of the child. The purpose was for anyone who views this video to channel the emotion they got from the mother into some form of activism.
#1 Sea of Red, Protesting national police week.
You DON’T the right to remain silent…when speaking on police brutality.
In our review of 21 lessons for the 21st century, Yuval
But what stood out the most is that the children were in attendance with blue lives matter shirts on. Their children are being educated and are in awe of the amount of effort used to honor officers dead or alive. While children in the black community have to worry about stray bullets killing them as we discussed in our #2 video. Children with officers in their family are taught to preserve and honor the boys in blue. Never before has the education of children on social issues become some paramount than today.
