The current unemployment trend is political sadomasochism. Celebrate poverty
It’s long overdue for the masses to reassess their relationship with their government. Our financial, spiritual, and mental codependency on the government is indicative of a sadomasochistic relationship with them. In fact, we informed resonators that we’re all in a narcissistic relationship with the government. Learned behavior from older relatives, social norms, etc all influence and prep this abusive relationship. A willingness to go without stable income just to prove that minimum wage isn’t livable is a desperate cry for attention at best.
“No more pressing need than the one to find somebody to whom he can surrender, as quickly as possible, that gift of freedom which he, the individual seeks for somebody or something to tie his self to; he cannot bear to be his own individual self any longer, and he tries frantically to get rid of it and to feel security again by the elimination of this burden: the self. –
The brothers Karamasov
“Can we assume that by making a fear worse one is trying to remedy it? Indeed, this is what the masochistic person does. As long as I struggle between my desire to be independent and strong and my feeling of insignificance or powerlessness I am caught in a tormenting conflict. If i succeed in reducing my individual self to nothing, If I can overcome the awareness of my separateness as an individual, I may save myself from this conflict.
Erich Fromm, The fear of freedom
Livable wages in a consumer-first society contain many paradoxes. The majority of us buy things we don’t need because it’s marketed to us by experts in psychology. On the other hand, willpower and discipline start at home. However, who is to say that the minimum wage should be livable? What will inspire people to earn a higher income? More low livable wages or government assistance and raising the minimum wage?. How will our country progress if the bar is set too low? The livable wage hike is a trojan horse for an egalitarian society.
The current relationship with our government is already too dependent, a low minimum wage gives people the drive to strive for more. Complacency would result in too high of a minimum wage which isn’t a good thing. The current unemployment trend is a first-world problem.
Because we’ve neglected our relationship with ourselves, we’re waiting for the toxic government to see us for who we really are. We want the government to give us everything that we ask for because our low self-esteem subconsciously reminds us that we can’t provide for ourselves. This is the result of victimhood or victim mentality. It has long-term effects not just in real-time.
If we weren’t killing ourselves in our communities, we committed political suicide. With our Stockholm syndrome loyalty to the democratic party for incentivizing our poverty. The external and self-inflicted pain intertwines with the sexuality of the welfare beneficiaries. Women became incentivized to have children, the more children they had the more benefits they received. This political sadomasochism that started during the welfare programs, predated the sexual objectification of blacks in media and entertainment.
First, people wanted the country to close, now that covid numbers are down, people want to increase the minimum wage to be livable. However, there are plenty of jobs that pay higher than the minimum wage that doesn’t require a degree. One is the post office, which starts at $18 per hour, three dollars higher than the current minimum wage. Furthermore, if one were to get a minimum wage job, many would probably get overtime due to staff shortages. So in reality, the current unemployment trend is deceiving and is more so a labor shortage.
Also, people haven’t been paying rent either. Our sadomasochistic relationship with the government reached its apex with the introduction of welfare programs in the ’60s. Prior to these programs blacks families had lower divorce rates than whites and collectively had $15 billion dollars spending money. This is more than enough to create our own industries so there isn’t a co-dependency on the government. After a decade of welfare programs that incentivize women to break up their families, many lost confidence in their ability to provide.
A single-mother with two children earning the federal minimum wage of $7.25 per hour needs to work 138 hours per week, nearly the equivalent of working 24 hours per day for six days, to earn a living wage.

Based on the quote above, should a single mother have two children if she can’t afford it? While having children is a natural act, it’s up to the person to develop the discipline to not bring a child they can’t afford into the world. Subjecting a child to poverty because of your selfish desires is never discussed in our sensitive climate. Is the government wrong for not increasing the minimum wage?. Or is the parent wrong for bringing a child into the world knowing they would have trouble providing for them? The issue is these are difficult problems to discuss because when you disagree, people will make it seem like you don’t care about a person’s well-being.
Unfortunately, due to being reactive, it was difficult to be objective about welfare assistance programs. Therefore, rather than protest against the poverty hell paved with a good intentional welfare program, the opposite was done. We asked for more assistance and help. We loved the pain of poverty, we became addicted to it and glorified it in our culture, media, and music.
Poverty became a badge of honor so much that urban rap music is a billion-dollar industry today. There wasn’t a labor shortage in the ’80s when crime was rampant, the unemployment was real back then.
In fact, people were advocating for a minimum wage increase for the last several years at the least, prior to covid. So why didn’t people stay home then? Is the sudden urge to demand higher wages stemming from unemployment checks and stimulus or do people want a wage increase?
In conclusion, just as the well-intended welfare program had opposite effects on its beneficiaries, so will a minimum wage hike. A minimum wage hike will create real unemployment giving the opposite effect of what the masses want. Over 1.7 million jobs would be lost to make up for labor costs, according to most economists who are against the hike. Therefore history repeats itself with sadomasochistic politics again. The people will beg for increases, lose access to jobs, and will use their sexuality to make a living.

What? My children shouldn’t have children because the minimum wage is too low? Because it was too low when they were born that even though I worked while raising them means that I can’t hand them a trust fund, or buy them cars, college, or starter homes. You left out what CEO pay is today compared to pre welfare days, as well as what taxes the wealthy paid then. Minimum wage created the middle class. I guess we don’t need a middle class anymore, slaves and owners will do.

Ann. Clearly reading comprehension is NOT your cup of tea. Not a single thing you wrote is in the article. You wrote, “My children shouldn’t have children because the minimum wage is too low?” Not what the article asserts. It asks the question “should a single mother have 2 children if she can’t afford it?” She may make more than the minimum wage but, still may not be able to afford it.
