Are we hardwired to believe in GOD? Studies show tattoos and piercings are more common among those neglected and abused in childhood.
The popularity of tattoos and piercings is at an all-time high today. Is our self-expression so stifled that we have to resort to body mutilation? Are we that concerned about what people think about us that we can’t say what we want to in public, or maybe we don’t know how to let it out. We can sometimes cover up tattoos and piercings to still work a job and play the game, but tattoos are more acceptable today than ever. Face tattoos are somewhat stigmatized but are growing more acceptable by the day. Is our for self-expression through body art a sign from GOD? Are we hard-wired to believe in GOD? Studies show tattoos and piercings are more common among those neglected and abused in childhood.
“It has to be in you, not on you.” It’s a phrase that symbolizes integrity, principles, and a firm foundation. Realizing that certain things in life have long-lasting consequences allows one to be self-aware. But what is in us? Some say kundalini, trauma, god force, human nature, etc. The essence of spirituality and religion is to harness this unseen energy inside us all. Yet this is seen as man being controlling, so we deny religion and spirituality and love chaos. Our article titled “lust is corrupting human evolution.” is a book review on “Coiled serpent”. Simply put, “The future of humanity depends on man’s ability to conquer his animalistic nature.”
“The energy needed for each new evolutionary acquisition had to be diverted from the earlier established reproductive tendency and to be transformed into other modes of expression. The life force had to be used more and more inward instead of for outward purposes.”
C.J. Van Vilet, Author of the coiled serpent
All three Abrahamic religions feature the Adam and Eve story with the snake in the garden. Even before then, in Egpyt and Asian spirituality, the serpent is well represented. The serpent is represented as kundalini energy that spirals and doesn’t move linearly. In our infancy and unfortunately for most people’s lives, their serpent remains coiled. Quite simply, the serpent becoming uncoiled is the GOD in our awakening. Just as we have DNA from our parents, GOD leaves its footprint inside us. Therefore, Whether we Believe in GOD or not is irrelevant; taming our serpent energy will lead us there eventually.
But what does this have to do with tattoos and piercings? A study with a 2,500-person sample size aged 14-44 was found to have suffered abuse and/or neglect.
Results showed that around 40% of participants had at least one tattoo or piercing and approximately 25% of participants reported significant child abuse or neglect. Among the participants reporting child abuse, 48% had a tattoo or piercing, while only 35% of people not reporting child abuse had a tattoo or piercing. Different types and severity of abuse showed relationships with both tattoos and piercings, with more severe abuse or neglect being associated with more tattoos and more piercings

A terrible narrative that exists today speaks against hierarchies. While those with power sometimes take advantage of others, hierarchies are also known to establish order and structure. Not only do we have individual serpent energy but as a collective as well. The fact that kids who have been neglected use tattoos and piercings to cope with pain prove not just anyone is capable of raising a child. While it happens, kids shouldn’t be raising their siblings if they’re too young. Likewise, the same goes for the parent. At the very least, a parent must realize they must tame their serpent energy and have a relationship with God. The bible and other spiritual systems give a hierarchy for the household. God, man, woman, child. Even those who Believe in GOD practice self-mutalation. Religious self-harm, while shunned today, was a common practice hundreds of years ago. Self-flagellation is one form most popularly known in the da Vinci code movie. Another is extreme fasting.
The irony is that Hindu and Buddhist cultures are the most accepting of tattoos, at least those of spiritual ramifications. These cultures probably are the most ingrained with serpent mythology in the world. Again being aware of this energy and how to channel it is the most important thing in our lives. There is a correlation between the peak of tattoos today and piercings and the belief in GOD at an all-time low in this country. Children in this country aren’t taught and are too young to understand this serpent energy inside them.
In conclusion, tattoos and piercings aren’t just a cry to our parents for giving us a turbulent childhood. It’s a cry out to GOD; at least in this country, it lacks what and how to harness the serpent energy inside us. The most important things in life are those that you can’t see. Orphanages are extinct in this country, belief in GOD is at an all-time low, and children’s service often fails to protect kids; these are all recipes for the most vulnerable not to receive help. And we wonder why our kids are committing crimes and younger and younger ages. A picture says a thousand words, and every tattoo and piercing tells a story, but before you want others to listen, you must learn to listen to yourself. First, this is the first step in taming our serpent energy.
