Lights, camera, inaction! From sun worship to technological worship. New Study shows falling asleep with t.v. on can kill you,
We call them distractions because we’re supposed to be attending to more important things. God, family, and our craft to name more than a few. What could be more important than these things? Surely we know that all of the above is more important, yet our actions tell a different story. Are we hacked, under a spell, in a trance? Are we truly aware and conscious of how we spend our time? Perhaps were just selfish and suffering from first-world affluence to the point where we only care about being entertained? Or we’re so far removed from nature we’ve sold out our spirituality for technology co-dependency. Whatever the reason may be a recent study shows things are taking a turn for the worse. A new study shows falling asleep with t.v. on can kill you.
Is the couch the new cross, are we crucifying ourselves on our sofas and beds. In April of 2021, we told our readers that sitting down doing nothing but consuming entertainment was killing them. Today a study proves it. The bible makes mention of Jesus being the way the truth and the light. Gnostics and occultists say that the bible is an astrological story with Jesus being the sun/son of God. But Sun worship isn’t exclusive to Christianity, older spiritual-religious systems were worshipping the sun thousands of years before the bible was written. Egypt worshiped Amen Ra as the sun god, for instance, the rays of the sun penetrated and impregnated the seed and soil giving birth to the food which sustained life. Japan even has the sun on its flag. Furthermore, Hindus, greeks, Norse, Aztecs, and Incans all have sun Gods. The sun in all mythologies is on the side of “good”, Hindu Surya brings good fortune, and in Norse, Freyer is the bringer of peace, fertility rain, and sunshine. Today, unfortunately, were conditioning ourselves to be enemies of the sun.
We don’t go outside as much as we used to, and more people are depressed than ever, even more than during the great depression. And we have more entertainment to distract ourselves from “outside”. Also, lingering pandemic diseases, variants, and new viruses such as monkeypox don’t help as well. In addition to all this, climate change is scary the bejesus out of people and creating eco-anxiety, A fear of a climate apocalypse that will not happen any time soon. Even worse, China wants to block the sun and create an artificial sun to combat “climate change”. While China spent 1$ trillion dollars on their artificial sun, we only pay several hundred dollars for ours.
We’ve exchanged thousands of years of sun worship light for blue light from our cell phones and t.v.’s. One grows food, the other grows our bellies. Sure, falling asleep with the t.v. on is something we’re all guilty of. As children and young adults, the t.v. was an actual companion when we were lonely at night. It was so we didn’t have to hear and listen to our real thoughts before bed. Obesity, diabetes, and hypertension, just to name a few are what we can expect when we fall asleep with the t.v. on.
The study used a sample of 552 individuals aged 63-84. Diabetes and obesity doubled damn near and hypertension was all higher in subjects who fell asleep with t.v. light on. This is all the more reason to lead a healthy active lifestyle. The earlier the better, the longer you wait the harder it will be to turn around years of inactivity.
In conclusion, worship isn’t just confined to a chapel, mosque, or church. If you prioritize your life around-consuming entertainment on your couch or bed, then that is your place of worship. The evidence of blue light disturbing circadian rhythms and sleep is overwhelming. As we continue to experiment with ways to hide from the sun and block it, it’s not too late to go appreciate the sun’s rays in the summer today. Before night becomes day and day becomes night. Let’s do all we can to not make the sun the new blue light technology by stigmatizing it.
