nipsey hussle saw the value of the hood
Earlier this year we discussed How Nipsey Hussle put aside his disdain for trump to fight gentrification. Hussle had planned to use a tax federal tax code enacted by Trump
Let’s be honest, as much as we claim crime is proximity and black on black crime doesn’t exit, the pain does. The parents of deceased children who will never mature as adults is definitely real.
Obviously many teenagers join gangs to feel the innate sense of belonging that a broken household could never provide. Gangs also were used originally to combat racism and to protect the community. Nipsey Hussle not only put aside his disdain for trump to fight gentrification, he highlights the positive side of “gang culture”.
As a well known CRIP(community revolution in progress) by inspiring residents even after his death to continue his fight against gentrification pays homage to the origins of the gang.
The suburbs of L.A. was a well known sun-down town and red-lining affected, asian, hispanic, and black races all over L.A… Black communities uniting and controlling their communities is the biggest fear of white America.
It would single handedly disrupt systematic racism. First it would show that we’re not distracted in an instant gratification society. Also, it builds generational wealth, it shows discipline and that we finally value our money. It would show the maturity in our desire to be materialistic.
It adds a different perspective to what we feel is successful without becoming entertainers or athletes. Killer Mike is doing something similar with his crip soda. We glorified gangs in the 90’s and early 2000’s. We’ve seen it only leads to death and jail and destroyed broken family communities
The proper usage of the warrior spirit in this age is to not burn everything to the ground impulsively. But to channel this energy into being productive in our communities. It’s the day to day grind of putting in work, rather than an overnight revolution. Are all revolutions explosive?
There’s so much coverage on Columbus day and rightly so of course. However there are modern Christopher Columbus’s gentrifying communities all over the country. Before we can do any of these things and fight gentrification we must fight the battle within ourselves first.
Yes it sounds corny and cliche, You have to be at a certain place spiritually to make a song saying fuck the president that got over 20 million views and use his tax code to benefit your community. The same community that you grew up in, the same community you knew you could and eventually die in.
By someone that looks just like you. Because you understand the value of community, the strength in numbers. You understand the life lesson’s your community taught you and how it helped you become successful. Its time we see the value in our own communities, as run down as they may seem by our democratic politicians.
All of this is easier said than done. Inner city life in the black community has caused pain that no therapy can ever soothe. If systematic racism designed us to be redlined and bundled together.
If it designed drugs to flow in to our community. if it designed poverty, if it designed to you to vote for democrats who never do any thing. Then by designed you’re going to hate it. You’re going to dislike anything that is a by-product of it.
In conclusion, how could we possibly learn to love and value something like that? I don’t have the answer but Nipsey obviously did.
