Alpha women are gentrifying communities
Independent women tend to be higher educated and thus want higher-paying jobs. How does the culture of alpha females in america influence gentrification amongst hong kong’s single women?
The higher-paying jobs located in skyscrapers downtown caters to the single woman lifestyle. Plenty of food options in a concentrated walkable area as opposed to driving long narrow roads in suburban communities. Walkable areas are safer for women as well.
On the other hand, The suburbs generally have better school systems and communities traditionally suited for families. Downtown lifestyle is about climbing the corporate ladder, busy traffic, politics, and short commutes via gentrification.
Gentrification is also a marketing ploy to attract the creative class and other successful demographics. By using success and status as advertising, developers are able to attract single women. Obtaining property in gentrified communities potentially validates a life philosophy among them.
“I don’t need a man to be successful”, or ” I can achieve through my own hard work” serves as confirmation bias for their empowerment. More than half a century ago this wasn’t possible at this level.
Last month our article on single black career driven Queen Latifah served as a warning. Latifah should be applauded for the effort to give back to where she came from. However, more thorough research would have informed her that her decision may actually have the opposite effect.
The irony of this, however, is whether subconsciously or not, Alpha females are becoming the very thing they claim to hate. By partaking in raising the housing market, you are displacing families and using politics to your benefit at the negligence of long-standing residents in the community.
In conclusion, career-driven women must fight the tunnel driven vision of obtaining success without being aware of their impact on others. The status of success in America, how it’s achieved, shared and experienced deserves as much focus. If it isn’t then we’re all throwing stones in a glasshouse, in a gentrified community.
