Sports fanatics are accepted in society, why?. Sports addicts gamble on sports, Get drunk and spend thousands on merchandise, buy tickets for sports stadiums whose tax revenue doesn’t help their cities failing schools.
Now sports fanatics are neglecting their health to be entertained, for stadium food violations.
Violations included but not limited to, employees wiping their faces with hands and then handling food for customers. sweating over food, expired food, contaminated equipment, and dirty floors. Despite this, sports fanatics will still pay 7$ for a hot dog.
Despite a recent stadium food violation, Concessions at pro sports venues is a 2 billion dollar a year industry. 3,000 people a year die from food borne diseases. However, sports stadium venues employ temporary workers who aren’t fully aware of food handling rules.
African Americans got into professional sports as a way to escape from racism even though athletes still experienced it on and off the court. This distraction from racism for black athletes in the ’60s has morphed into a full-blown billion dollar distraction worldwide.
For every 1 million black kids from the inner city who dreamsof playing sports less than 1% make it. However, sports provides mentorship for young black males, gives them discipline, keeps them in shape as well. It keeps them from being sucked into street life, giving them self-worth and positive self-esteem.
However, black athletes who’ve experienced police injustice while attending underperforming schools entertain millions of racist sports fanatics. Despite making up of 90% of players in the NBA, white owners still represent 90% of teams in the league.
What was once viewed as healthy escapism from a 9-5 has become apart of family traditions. Despite sports teams having no long-term impact on issues plaguing black communities. The oppression that white supremacy has created has birthed a drive inside potential black athletes to achieve the American dream.
Yet less than 1% realize this dream, this is the real game being played on both sides. Whites waste time and resources while blacks believe they’re the ones who can make it out. Various investors have said sports stadiums are bad investments.
In conclusion, Citizens who never attend and can’t afford expensive seats pay for stadiums with tax dollars. Thousands of hours that you can’t get back is wasted. And now with stadium food violations we ignore and neglect our health for overpriced unhealthy food at events.
