Netflix’s John of God reaffirms the belief that the masses love being lead astray.
Our Cult of Trump book review informed readers of how and why people are vulnerable to cults. With so much access to information and entertainment, cults are becoming the norm. As an avid reader of this website, perhaps you have challenged your biases in order to see if you’ve belonged to any cults. You may think “I’m too smart for that and that could never be me, but it easily could have. The very same people apart of Brazilians spiritual healers “John of God” church probably thought the same thing. Until they witness spiritual surgeries without anesthesia that would cut open and allegedly heal victims of cancer. John of God would ultimately be sentenced to 77 years in prison despite being in his 60’s. Could one man manage to have allegedly sexually harassed over 77 women while appearing on the Oprah Winfrey show? Here’s why Netflix’s john of God reaffirms the belief that the masses love being lead astray.
Study shows that people will turn down free money, in order to not hear opposing ideology.
John of God is no different than your megachurch. do we innately wish to be saved? on the surface, religious cult leader John of God of Brazil seems to have easily fooled the masses. Like most mega-church preachers, is our desire to survive and feel safe override our rational logic? From a biological, evolutionary standpoint it makes sense.
Believing in a higher power provides safety, comfort, and reassurance from the mysterious thing we call life. Megachurch attendees are fine with their pastors in jets and mansions while they struggle check to check. Because to them spiritually their life does depend on it, religious mega followers are spiritually handicapped. They lack the spiritual discipline, discernment, and faith to walk the spiritual path without 24/7 assistance.
So when we meet someone who we believe has healing powers from god we feel safe. We deny our common sense because we’re afraid of seeing reality as it is. It’s this very reason that independent thinkers are needed in every facet of society. John of God of brazil would heal churchgoers with dangerous practices such as using a saw to cut open a chest. It’s hard not to be in amazement with this happening in front of your eyes. But it takes an independent thinker to even question what appears to be miraculous events right in front of him. But biblically who is known as the deceiver? Satan..
We become Satan to our rational mind and it affects our reality by us deceiving ourselves. The point isn’t whether you believe in Christianity, its your inability to become an independent thinker. Your lack of will to reason what you see and participate in will pacify you into becoming your very own version of the devil. You may not have a long pointed tail or horns but \a life of enabled self-deception makes you your own devil.
The difference is were taught when someone is “tempting” us, but what about when we tempt ourselves? As a spectator of John of God, to question his healing ability is to question the bible. If we’ve built a life of believing in God as he was taught to us, then we have to believe a follower of his can has healing power. So strongly we identify as followers of Christ, a child of God, we use human associations to make nonphysical “beings” seem physical. Therefore to doubt is out of the question.
Doubt can seem like death, shattering your belief system can destroy your thought process and leave you in a state of confusion. This is why denial is built as a survival defense mechanism, the body needs time to adjust and process a crisis, or sudden life-altering events in our life. Freethinkers and independent thinkers live here.
Independent thinkers understand that the only constant changes and the truth is stranger than fiction. Celebrity and hero worship are for those with an undeveloped sense of self, they live through the lives of others. Freethinkers appreciate the message but never worship the messenger. There are plenty of magicians who pull off magical feats, that people later found out was an illusion. Any talent can be used for good or evil and in the case of John of God, both.
Talent doesn’t denote moral application. Furthermore, if someone is displaying their “talents” mainly in crowds” that should raise a red flag. Jesus didn’t broadcast to the world that he was healing people for his attention and status. We can’t automatically assume that those who’ve cultivated their talents are for the greater good because they’re “different”. But believing is seeing.
Because of the church setting coupled with the social pressure to not think for yourself, critical thinking is nearly impossible. No matter what happened, were going to tell ourselves that this is healing rather than a placebo of belief. And if someone wasn’t healed we tell ourselves that the Lord works in mysterious ways. The excuses to justify our biases and beliefs are endless.
In conclusion, we all play a satanic role in our lives whether we’re conscious of it or not. Unfortunately, the majority of the world embraces and is comfortable in their blissful ignorance.

Yet another issue is that video games are generally serious anyway with the key focus on finding out rather than leisure. Although, it has an entertainment element to keep your kids engaged, each and every game is often designed to work on a specific set of skills or curriculum, such as mathematics or scientific disciplines. Thanks for your posting.
