A.I. will monopolize one of these 5 love languages
Which of the five love languages do you feel has been taken over by A.I. due to the pandemic? Affirmations can be sent through phone, text or in-person through social distancing. The amazon boom proves the act of gifts is still alive. Quality time? for sure but social distancing is still an option and facetime. Physical touch sounds like the obvious choice but if you’re wearing a mask, social distancing, and getting tested frequently that shouldn’t be a problem.. That leaves acts of service. Here’s how A.I. will monopolize one of the 5 love languages.
Everyone loves to list their five love languages online due to the accuracy in communicating how you want to be treated. But if you don’t know yours, you can take the test here for free.
A study from 2018 of the highest-ranked 5 love languages chose words of affirmation at 23%. There are so many ways to communicate even if you can or can’t see the person you can communicate this language as much as you want. Tied for 2nd and 3rd at 20% each were quality time and acts of service respectively. If you’re in a relationship quality time is possible as long as testing and social distancing are being practiced. What about service though? Also, the 5 love languages aren’t just limited to significant others.
Strangers, co-workers can do things that invoke joy in us as well by following the love languages. For instance, the act of service is always a plus. Good service at a restaurant or anywhere for that matter is always memorable just as bad customer service is. Also, Good genuine acts of service remind us that there are good people in the world.
Furthermore, Good service can lift up our spirits on a bad day. In fact, good service is quality time because service requires time being used mindfully.
To see how the act of service love language has been affected by the pandemic look no further than the hospitality industry. As designated spots for lovers and couples, hotels have a close but overlooked relationship with people.
Acts of service heal the recipient and the doer. Who wants to really clean hotels? Most people may feel it doesn’t matter how they treat something as long as someone is cleaning it up after them. I’m sure you’ve become more aware of this the moment your parents stopped cleaning up after you. But hotels are havens for sex, drugs, dirty towels, etc. And this is pre covid.
But is a robot aware of the importance of its job? Does a robot know that a cleanroom provides people a mini gateway from their home and work life? and more importantly against co-vid? Regardless of how we feel about it. It’s important for humans to have a hand in helping and being of service. Also what about people who feel their purpose is to serve others? Have we become so selfish as a society that we forget such people exist?
Imagine Jesus using robots to heal the sick and feed the needy. Let that sink in..
5G network will perform miracles your pastor could have never done.
A.I. will continue to monopolize acts of service the more we lose our empathy and compassion. Just because it’s not popular and people don’t want to do it doesn’t mean it should be automated. A dangerous trend of relying on A.I. to solve dirty complex problems will deeper our arrogance and snobbery, something we should be trying to alleviate not monetize.
What’s essential is allowing humans to be humans, while still evolving. Evolving takes place in the heart, mind, body, and soul, not just on an algorithm. Immorality needs to be accounted for in A.I..The road to hell is paved with good intentions. We can protect ourselves from the virus while embracing humanity.
A world where the path of least resistance, pyramid schemes, and life hacks make us efficient for our selfish goals needs evaluating. Life will never be easy no matter what is automated. However, this is the result of instant gratification and a selfish me-first society.
Seeing all the essential workers was a great thing, one of the few great things about this country was our ability to take risks. Empathy can’t be automated and A.I. will never feel the joy of providing the service no matter what it’s told to do regardless of the price.

Our article, The dangers of humanizing A.I. spoke of this. Were forgetting that A.I. has no feelings, emotions, etc. Just because we’re dependent on technology and addicted emotionally doesn’t mean technology feels the same way. An act of service is one of the best ways to fight depression and anxiety however confirms this.
In conclusion, as humans, we want to know that we have a role in society, no matter what it is. If we didn’t, people wouldn’t be doing things to get attention on social media all day. It doesn’t matter if it’s positive or negative. If the hotel industry doesn’t resonate with you, it may be because you take it for granted. Perhaps you’ve never had bad hospitality service. Regardless, the hotel is an intimate setting and if A.I. is cornering that area then the home is next.
But then again, this country is so divided by racism, politics, sports, and distractions, the majority of the people won’t even realize the importance before it’s too late.
